4 SPACES

Photography by Ida Bertilsson, Adelaide Lin, Meha Desai and Stephan Mueller

4 photographers. 4 nationalities. Searching 4 spaces.

All our work for all of us is about space, our individual space. At times it is physical spaces and at times, mental ones.

Sometimes it is a simultaneous exploration of both dimensions. Our work is an ongoing search, an exploration, each in our own way, and thereby the differences. In our goal to search, to explore, to know and to be, we found each other our binding factor.

For Ida Bertilsson, the decisive moment is that one moment of absolute clarity. The thought between two thoughts, when everything is suddenly as it should be and her photographs celebrate this temporal moment.

They are about realisation, joy and understanding.

For Adelaide Lin, her exploration is about the battle between the good and bad inside each one of us. It is not the cliched angel over one shoulder and the devil over the other, but is more along the lines of what Dante called being in limbo...the dark side that every person has, and hides...but can never deny.

Meha Desai delves into the idea of how our memories of our past are our own construct. The reality of it and our memory of it will never coincide and as more and more time passes, the more Wordsworthian Romantic it will become.

Stephan Mueller's work observes individuals in their space, and how they interact with that space. One single person, open spaces, melancholic solititude, the photographs all attempt to find a harmony between people and the world.

For this exhibition, we have also invited Kaori as a guest artist. Her work dares to look at the world from a different perspective...literally. The view from the ground, photographed and given to us as proof of all details we so easily miss everyday.

Brought together from different parts of the world by a passion... for life and for photography, we invite you to explore our worlds through this exhibition.
