Bob Nicolson

The Yellow Flag, oil on canvas 66" x 44"

Bon Nicolson has always worked privately, only exhibiting under pressure, so that pieces in this show will be new to most. Many of his paintings have personal themes and rely heavily on memory. His works contain clearly comprehensible images, unaffected by contemporary trends, yet their relationships can be mysterious and evocative.

Sometimes contemplative or jubilant, sometimes lyrical or severe. Because of the detail and the techniques employed they may take six months to complete.
